This past days, I´ve been playing to a very beautifully done stop motion game. Yes, stop motion. I saw it in Steam, and just after a few seconds of trailer, I knew I had to try it.

The Dream Machine is an episodic point-and-click adventure video game developed and published by Cockroach Inc. The story of the game is about dreams and how those dreams affect the perception of reality. The game is built by hand, using materials such as clay and cardboard.

I think that there are four key elements which made this game appealing to me.

Firstly, the aesthetics of the game, stop motion and looks in general are an amazing way to present a game and make it re-memorable. Every scene is made with care, every detail had in mind.

Secondly, for moving the story forward, you need to complete different puzzles, which are really thought trough. They were mind bending and very satisfying to complete. Some of them were very difficult, but it made it even more satisfying.

Thirdly, the story is VERY dark, with characters with obscure backgrounds as well. The animation makes the game even creepier.

I loved playing this and the finale was something truly remarkable. I truly advise you to play if whenever you have a chance.
